Ghana is the best investment destination – Prof. Amoako

Ghana’s Consul General in New York, Prof. (emeritus) Samuel Amoako has urged Africans in the diaspora to invest in Ghana for optimal returns. He said the relative peace and stability in Ghana anchored upon democratic governance and its leading role in Pan-Africanism make the country the trail blazer in African political and economic development and the best investment destination in West Africa if not the whole of Africa. Professor Samuel Amoako made these statements at the 63rd independence anniversary celebration of Ghana organized by the United Ghanaian Council (UGA) of New Jersey on March 7th at the Holiday Inn, Newark Driving home his points, the quondam community leader in New York City pointed out that the current government in Ghana has chalked enough economic success that has registered high growth rates and low inflation. “Indeed, the government of the NPP has achieved a lot in the three years that it has been in power. The call is for all of us to maintain and build on our achievements, he observed. Highlighting his government’s achievement thus far, the community person Consul General said the “Planting for Food and Jobs” policy is spanning the entire value chain of agricultural production, and boosting food security even as it creates jobs for the youth and increases exports and incomes for farmers. He suggested that Africans in the diaspora must come to Ghana not only to establish cultural and emotional bonding with their ancestry but also to invest in Ghana’s economy. He said the success of the 2019 “The Year of Return” should facilitate a new movement called “Beyond The Year of Return.” He urged Ghanaians to take advantage of current investment opportunities back home through partnerships. “Let us turn the “Brain Drain” phenomenon into a “Brain Gain” phenomenon,” he hammered on. Ghanaians in the diaspora remitted about 1.7 billion U. S. Dollars in 2019. The Chairman of the event, Dr. Andrew Baddoo, a New Jersey-based nephrologist called for unity between and among Ghanaians.
