Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo nominated as NPP flag bearer

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo was nominated by a conference of delegates of the New Patriotic Party on Saturday October 18 as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2016 general elections. Nana Addo polled 117, 413 votes representing 94.35 per cent as against 5,908 representing 4.75 per cent by Alan Kyerematen in the party’s leadership contest. The Third contender in the race, Mr Francis Addai Nimoh secured 1,198 representing 0.91 per cent.
In his acceptance speech Nana Addo welcomed his opponents and appealed for cooperation and unity in the NPP adding, “We are going to reverse the decline of the nation. We have the men and women who can do it” .

At a short ceremony at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra where a large crowd of people gathered for the formal nomination, opponents Alan Kyerematen and Francis Addai Nimoh plegded their cooperation and appealed for unity for victory in the 2016 general elections.

Nana Addo’s shot at the Ghanaian presidency will be his third attempt, having failed in 2008 and 2012 against NDC’s John Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama.
