We Want to help Ghana but..

The President of the Ghanaian Engineers and Architects Association of America (GEAAA) Mr. George Korley has said that his association is ready, able and willing to put its expertise at the service of Ghana for free, but red tapeism and bureaucratic bottlenecks are slowing discussions between the two parties. Mr. Korley, a Professional Engi
neer, made this pronouncement at the 4th Annual Dinner Dance ceremony of the GEAAA August 1 at the Pines Manor, Edison New Jersey. He said the combined experience and expertise of the GEAAA is second to none in Africa and wished the government of Ghana would see through this vast experience to engage his association in national development.
“Our country can benefit from our experiences”, he said.

Speaking on the theme “Investing Our Talents”, Mr. Korley observed that a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) program launched by GEAAA is available to mentor and help young men and women make the right choices in professional careers. Out of a total of $2500, scholarship available for deserving students, $1500 was awarded
A $1000.00 annual scholarship has been set up in honor of Professor Nicholas Kumapley, former dean of the engineering faculty at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi Ghana.

Prior to becoming Dean, Professor Kumapley, who passed away last year was head of the Civil Engineering Department at the same university. The first recipients of the Kumapley Scholarship were Ope Adediji and Selom Kotey.
GEAAA Person of the Year Award went to Dr. Andrew Baddoo for his meritorious services to the community. Dr. Baddoo, one of only six Black Nephrologists in the State of New Jersey, is also the president of the Ghana Association
for Medical Aid (GAMA), a New Jersey-based non-profit health organization that educates the community on healthy lifestyles through outreach programs. Dr. Baddoo thanked GEAAA for the recognition and challenged professional bodies to give back to the community
