Ghanaian entrepreneur poised to make waves in cosmetics products

by KOFI AYIM

Isaac Kusi has known the benefits of shea butter for a very long time in his native Ghana. He also knew that the thick paste of shea butter commonly found in northern Ghana would assume international status within a matter of years.

In 1988 he started to import finished products of shea butter from Germany and distributed them to select outlets mainly in the New York Metro Area.

In 1994 he established Krismark Cosmetics USA Inc in the Bronx, New York. Initially sourced to a private manufacturing entity, Krismark Cosmetics started manufacturing its own products in Woodridge, NY, in 1998.

Mr. Isaac Kusi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Krismark, says that red palm oil has been incorporated into Krismark products, making it the only organic cosmetic business currently on the market with the two main ingredients.

He pointed out that both red palm oil and shea butter have no byproducts of crude oil and therefore exhibit no chemical harshness on the body.

He added that red palm oil has the highest known concentration of Vitamin E, and emphasized that Krismark products saturated with beta and carotene vitamins are vital to cell renewal, especially for dry skin.

He commented that the moisturizing  properties of shea butter and red palm oil is particularly vital for the skin during winter. The line of products includes shea butter lotions and creams, as well as hair products: conditioners, shampoo, and pomade.

According to the CEO, plans are in the pipeline to stock Krismark products in major U.S. stores. Krismark products are available in select beauty supply shops, hair salons, pharmacies, and African stores in New York and New Jersey. They are also available at Krismark.com as well as amazon.com.
