Nigeria: Bombings – Mimiko Condemns Attacks on This Day Offices
Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko yesterday condemned the bombing of the Abuja Corporate office of Leaders and Company, Publishers of ThisDay newspaper, submitting that it’s high time perpetrators of the dastard act have a change of heart and allow Nigerians enjoy their freedom.
Two persons were confirmed killed and six injured in the explosion while another incident was reported in Kaduna some hours later.
Governor Mimiko, through a message by his Chief Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola said well-meaning Nigerians should plead with the perpetrators of this act to have a rethink and show some respect for human lives and stop making children orphans, husband widowers and wives widows.
He said there is no doubt that security agents in the country are doing their best to arrest the situation, he however opined that the perpetrators of the act are the ones that needed to be pleaded with to spare the nation this agony and allow peace and development come to Nigeria.
Chairman of the Editorial Board of ThisDay, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi confirmed the explosion at the Jabi, Abuja office of the newspaper, describing it as massive.
Residents of Abuja said the vibration arising from the explosion, shook houses as far as Wuse Zone 2, which is a distance away.
A source said that a Toyota Sienna bus, laden with explosives, was driven into the premises by two suicide bombers. Adeniyi has also confirmed this.
