Confrontations between security forces and protesters have started again outside the United States embassy in Cairo on Thursday.

The clashes erupted late on Wednesday where a number of injuries were reported.

An Aswat Masriya eyewitness said that tens of youths were throwing rocks at security forces while they responded with rocks and teargas in the area surrounding the U.S. embassy close to Tahrir Square.

Six injuries were admitted to Monira Hospital including a policeman and three conscripts, reported the Middle East News Agency, adding that one civilian suffers from a fractured skull.

According to the interior ministry, 12 protesters were arrested, while the ministry put up barbed wire to prevent protesters from raiding the embassy.

Protests erupted on Tuesday over a film produced in the United States that insults Islamic Prophet Mohammad.
